What We Do
Hermanus Child & Family Services is a designated child protection organisation with 3 service streams. Our service area constitutes the most densely populated parts of Hermanus which have faced unprecedented population growth and significant challenges in the last year. Hermanus has the highest population of vulnerable children and youth in the area.
Our services are threefold:
Designated Child Protection
We serve more than 1 000 families in our child protection programme. This vital work is carried out by five social workers and a social auxiliary worker who are supported and supervised by a qualified social work supervisor.
Alternate Care Residential Centres
We provide residential and emergency care for children at risk. 18 children are currently in our care, ably cared for by six residential care staff, known as “house mothers”.
Early Childhood Development
Our three ECD centres nurture, educate and feed 162 children daily.
